7nd June 2025 - HBCC 1st XI vs Glasshoughton CC (H)
On a day when the BBC had predicted that we should have been sailing a boat instead of playing cricket - HBCC welcomed rivals from Glasshoughton CC to Squirrel Park.
1st Innings
Nicholson lost the toss (to no surprise) and the visitors put the Bridge into bat.
Nicholson and Grogan strode to the crease but Nicholson soon fell in the 2nd over for a duck. Grogan then rolled back the years with some gorgeous strokes (with his bat, don’t worry) before falling, kickstarting the bridge collapse. Boom boom boom wickets fell for 66-7.
Then MH walked out looking like Inzi in his prime - he took the ballers on and dispatched some massive 6s to get 46 and drag the Bridge to a competitive total.
2nd Innings
After a fantastic tea as always at the Bridge (much appreciated Donna!), the visitors came out to bat.
Josh Ward rode his luck to get to 50, before falling the very next ball to a good catch by our new IPL keep Kashie B. Ian Smales showed some skill with the ball and bowled tight at an end with Nicholson continuing to rotate his bowler (even bowling a few himself).
But the batting total set was unfortunately not enough and Glasshoughton CC knocked the total off with only 4 wickets lost. I’d like to give a shout out to MH for his great knock and the Smales for coming in to the 1sts to help us out on a tight week.
